Your First Business Plan

Thursday February 9, 2006

Berkshire Bank, Conference Room

244 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230

Small businesses are critical to the economic well being of Massachusetts. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, over 98% of businesses in Massachusetts fit the definition of small business and provide about 50% of the total employment for the state. However recent studies show that business failures have increased by 12.4% in the state.

Proper business planning plays a major roll in every successful business venture. This business-planning workshop, recommended for all startup businesses, will focus on management fundamentals from startup considerations through business plan development. Topics for discussion include business structure, legal obligations, market research, marketing and advertising, financial reports and financing considerations. Susan Mongue, Senior Management Counselor for the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center in Berkshire County will conduct the workshop.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, Berkshire Bank, Hoosac Bank, Salisbury Bank and Trust Company and TD Banknorth.

Since space may be limited, those wishing to attend are encouraged to pre-register by contacting the Small Business Development Center at (413) 499-0933 or selecting Training Seminars online at www.msbdc.org/wmass. The fee for each workshop is $25.00 and due upon registration. An additional charge of $10.00 will be charged to attendees paying the day of the workshop. Checks should be made payable to The University of Massachusetts.
