Youth Center provides opportunities for children of Adams, Cheshire and Savoy

Adams, Massachusetts is a town with vast opportunities for young people. From long-time residents to new families moving into the area, Adams is a unique place that offers youth opportunities to have fun while at the same time teaching them how to become healthy, responsible adult members of the community.

For sport lovers there are different leagues such as the Adams Police Athletic League, Adams Little League, Babe Ruth League, Lassie League, Adams, Cheshire and Savoy Soccer League, football and tennis programs. Each promotes healthy bodies and team spirit.

For those with other interests, the Youth Center, Inc., which serves the communities of Adams, Cheshire and Savoy, has much to offer. From the daily drop-in center to vacation and summer camps, the Youth Center is a place where children can utilize a computer lab, pool & foosball tables, video games and a lounge area with a big screen TV - or just hang out and chat with friends.

They can receive homework help or participate in special programming, all in a substance free, equal-opportunity setting. Youth have a unique opportunity to engage in positive interactions - one in which they can make mistakes and grow from them. The staff exemplifies cooperative problem solving and positive reinforcement as a behavior-management model.

The Youth Center, Inc., is open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays during vacation periods. Normal Saturday hours of noon to 5 p.m. are subject to seasonal adjustment. For more information, call 743-3550 or visit their website at www.youthcenterinc.com. Their email address is youth.center@verizon.net.
