Welcome Welcome (and welcome back) to Williamstown! we hope that 2005 is a successful year for each of you. Your studies, classes, sports, friends, activities and social lives will keep you pretty busy on campus, but you may want to venture out . . . at some point. So what is there to do or where do you go if you aren't in class or writing a paper or going to practice? Here are some ideas to help all of you -- not just first year students! (Even though your parents may have said this to you, it really is true -- you’re never too old to learn something new.) Need a haircut? Venture down to Spring Street or Colonial Shopping Center. You just gotta have that new CD, but it'll cost you more to have it shipped for next day than the price of the CD itself! Guess what? You can get it on Water Street, like Wilco "A Ghost is Born." Does your room or house need some finishing touches (or do you just despise what your roommate has done with the place)? Your room and home décor needs are just a short walk to Spring and Water streets. Any ATMs off campus? Of course! We may be nestled in the beautiful Berkshire Hills, but we utilize ATMs too. Spring Street and Main Street, Williamstown. There are many financial institutions to choose from too, to create your own local account. Where's the Williams-wear? Spring Street – something for everyone. Run out of laundry detergent? Spring Street has you covered. Need to do wash five loads at once to save some time? Water Street is where to go. Did you spill something on the dry-clean-only shirt last night? Spring Street is the place. Need to take a break and take in some beautiful art? Williamstown. Need some pampering with just the girls? Head down to Water Street for a massage or spa treatment where relaxing is inevitable. Hungry? Lots to choose from downtown – breakfast sandwiches, coffee, bagels, Indian cuisine, creative sandwiches, fresh juices, seafood, ice cream, baked goods, homemade soups, Latin cuisine, pizza, Thai cuisine, pubs…eat your way around! If you or a friend has a car, you have even more choices. Need to take a hike after all that you ate? Guidance is available on trails, bike rentals, etc. in Williamstown. Do you need a prescription refilled, make up, umbrella? Spring Street is the place. You need to develop the roll of film that you took the night before, to help your "friend" piece the sequence of events back together. Spring Street. Need a passport or ID photo? Spring and Water streets. Need to find the perfect gift with the perfect card for your best friend's birthday? Williamstown has it. Need some popcorn and an independent movie for your independent mind? Venture to Spring Street. Ladies, do you need a new outfit, just because you need a new outfit? Spring Street. New jewelry to go with? Of course, Spring Street. Need an anniversary gift for the parents? Art galleries and antique shops can help you on Spring and Water Streets. School supplies, books, strategy games, greeting cards, outdoor gear, newspapers, soda, and much more – Williamstown has it. Yes, Williamstown has much to offer you off campus too. We have restaurants, stores, entertainment venues, and recreation to help keep you going. Cultural and natural attractions abound. It's all right here for you to experience.
