Williams College libraries allow public reading, browsing

Libraries at Williams College contain over 915,000 volumes and are open to the public for on-site use. www.williams.edu/library/

Sawyer Library (597-2501) is the main library and houses collections in the arts, humanities, and social sciences as well as federal government documents and audiovisual materials. Schow Science Library (597-4500) is located in the science complex and houses the science, psychology, and geological map collections.

The Matt Cole Library (597-2500) is located in Kellogg House and contains local and regional environmental studies materials. All three libraries have computers with a full range of software for use by members of the college community; other computers are available to the public to access the online catalog and electronic resources. The Archives and Special Collections Department (597-2568) in Stetson Hall contains manuscript, publications, and audiovisual materials documenting the history of the College. Although not part of the WCL, the Chapin Library (597-2462) in Stetson Hall contains outstanding collections of rare books, manuscripts and major author collections.
