Family: Wife, Patricia (Hansen) Burdick, married 29 years; children, Matthew, 26, Jillian, 14, and Justin, 13.

Education: Graduated from the Florida Consolidated School (now Gabriel Abbott) in 1967 and from Drury High School in 1971.

Personal hero/role model: My grandfather, Howard A. Burdick

Why is this person a hero/role model to you? His family, God and his community were the three most important things in his life, in that order. He gave of his time, talent and advice freely and without thought of reward. He passed away nearly 25 years ago, and I miss him.

Personal achievement(s) of which you are most proud: My crowing achievement, also my legacy: My three children of whom I couldn’t be more proud. Also spearheading the addition of the Vietnam Veteran’s to Florida’s Granite War Memorial.

Personal quote/trademark expression: The Cub Scout motto, “Do your best.” I always tell my children and others I work with to just “Do your best.”

The best advice you can give someone: Word hard, play fair, give to your church and serve your community. Treat others as you would have them treat you.
