 Content: • Savoy Elementary students tell real-life tales (mostly) Savoy Elementary students tell real-life tales (mostly) 4th Grade: Joshua Serre; Ashley Serre; Arielle Poirot; Jerry Cardona; Destinie King; Zachery DeBlois; Dylan Walker. 5th Grade: Jacob Ziter; Rebecca Daniels; Keith Andersen; Jesus Ramirez; Garrett LeSage; Jai Marshall; Brendan Hayden; Jakob Kelly From Mrs. Nowicki's fourth and fifth grade class at Savoy Elementary School. Our Principal Mrs. Senecal is our school principal. She has many jobs to do. For example, one of her jobs is to work with students because she is also the Title One teacher. Another job having to do with students is to discuss problems. She asks questions to try to solve things. Our principal also watches us during recess so students will be safe. Mrs. Senecal works in the office by answering the phone and she runs many different kinds of meetings. Our principal works very hard. Planting One day I was planting flowers. First I got soil, then I got seed. Then I planted the seeds. Next I put water on the plants. After I put fertilizer to keep away the harmful insects. The warm sunshine was warm and helped the plants. A few weeks later, I had big beautiful flowers. Turtles and Snails look alike Turtles and snails look a lot alike. They are animals. Turtles and snails are very slow animals. They both have shells. One shell is big and one is small. If you look on the back of a turtle you can tell how old it is and you can't see how old a snail is. Turtles and snails eat plants. I like turtles and snails. My Cat Shoey My cat Shoey does a lot of things! When we play he chews on my fingers and it tickles. He is bad sometimes. When he is bad sometimes he scratches my face. When he is very bad I put him in the cellar. He scratches the cellar door. After a little while I take him out, but I still love him. He is a good cat. A Canoe Trip Mrs. O'Riordan and I went on a canoe trip to an island in Plainfield Pond. We saw different colors of leaves. We saw green, red, orange and yellow leaves. They were beautiful. We also saw the sunset behind the trees. The sunset colors were orange and yellow. Mrs. O'Riordan and I took moss and red berries back home. When we got to her house we made a terrarium out of pieces from the island. It was exciting to go to the island. I had a lot of fun. My New Puppy My new puppy lives at my house. He doesn't sleep at night. He's always hyper. My puppy is very nippy and he likes to bite me. He is very fuzzy and soft. His name is Gismo. He likes to play in the morning and at night. He's very small compared to my big dogs. My puppy is white and my other dogs are black. He's full grown. My puppy is a Chihuahua puppy and Chihuahua puppies are very mean. My New Dog My dog was cute when I first saw him in Vermont. When I first saw him he came licking on my face and he started chewing on my shirt and my shorts. My dog's name is Yovas. His name is really Savoy, but it's spelled backwards. His color is a lot black and some brownish white. I got him as a puppy and he gets in trouble because he's just a baby puppy. Sometimes he's a bad boy and he has to go in the cage, but he has toys in his cage. He cries a lot because he does not want to be alone at my house. He is the best dog that I ever had even though he gets in trouble and cries a lot. I'm Getting Ready For School I do a lot of things before I got to school. First I get something to eat. Secondly I get dressed. Then I wash my face. I brush my teeth. I used to brush my fair. Then if I have free time I'll get my basketball and bring it up to my stop. It's been really cold in the morning so I have to wear my leather coat. Garrett usually hangs out with me. When the bus comes, Garrett flies down to his house. When the bus comes I am ready to go. My Dog Max My small white and brown dog Max is a very fun dog. He loves when I play fetch with him. Max also runs all over like a crazy animal. His favorite toy is a Scooby toy. Max tears it up till the stuffing comes flying out. Then he chases mice and kills them. Then Max chases the cats till they chase him. Then he hides in my very soft pillow. After that he makes me walk him. Max and I have lots of fun together. Halloween Party We had a Halloween party at the campground. There were tons of people in costumes. There were scary costumes and silly and pretty costumes too. After the costumes were judged we set up the haunted house. My dad was holding a chain saw, but without the chains so it would not cut anybody. I was in the haunted house in a devil costume and Daddy put me near a bucket and a hose that looked green. Then my dad told me to bend down and put a hole through my mask so it would spit out water to make it look like bile was coming out. After a while the haunted house was closed. Soon everyone left the party and went home to their campers. Boy, that was a scary night for little kids, but it was fun for me. My Trip to Outer Space I had a cool time in outer space. I was minding my own business then an alien ship beamed me up in their ship. They were friendly. Their planet was a little smaller than Earth. I played glarp ball with the aliens' kids. After that I ate a zilly ford and it tasted like a hot dog. On the way home I got to drive their ship. About five miles away from the earth's atmosphere they gave ma a pot to drive home and keep. When I got home, I told Mom and Dad about it. They didn't believe me until I showed them the pod. Then my mom fainted. The trip was the best trip on my life! My Baseball Game I went to my baseball game. When I played, I picked up a bat. The bat was really heavy. When the other player on my team was done batting, I walked to home base. The home base is about 10 feet away. I went up to bat. I swung really fast and I hit the ball out of the park. After the ball landed, it smashed through the window of a car. The car's alarm went off. I ran all the bases. There are only four bases in the whole field. It was a great way because the score was 10 too. We got 10 and they got 0. Getting Ready Birds do many things to get ready to have babies. First they find the perfect tree. After they find the perfect tree, they search for things to make a nest with like hay, string and twigs. When the nest is built, the female lays her eggs. She sits on the eggs until the eggs hatch. When the eggs hatch, she does to find food such as worms and seeds. Now that's how birds get ready to have babies. My Pet Dogs I have two loyal dogs. Their names are Milley and Fenway. Milley needs a little help and Fenway is very obedient. My dogs are both Golden Retrievers and very fun to play with. I take them on walks and I usually let them off the leash. If they see another dog they will go over and play with the dog. There is another side to my dogs. They can be very bad. When they get really bad I have to put them in their cages in the cellar. I have to give them food and water every day. When I want to teach them I get dog treats and I tell them what I want them to do and they do it. I set up a track for them and they go through it really fast. I like to go through it with them. They like to chase my cats and scare them off. The best thing I like to do with my dogs is running away from them. They like that too. I think my dogs are the best in the world. Getting Ready for New Baby Birds One day a mother bird was getting ready. She was getting ready for new baby birds. The mother bird built a nest out of twigs and mud. Then a few hours later she laid two spotted eggs. She sat on the eggs for a while. Then she left to get food. When she came back the two spotted eggs hatched. She had two worms for the baby birds. “Wow” are those baby birds lucky to have a great mom! Man On The Moon Neil Armstrong is very famous. Neil was a fighter pilot in the Korean War which gave him air experience and that's why NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) picked him to fly the Apollo II. Neil trained at NASA for zero gravity and how to fly the space ship and land the module on the lunar surface. Neil was the first man to walk on the moon. He said, while everyone was listening, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." Neil Armstrong is remembered to this day.  RETURN TO TOP |
